The home page of the Google search engine has always had a minimalist and simple design, but that may soon change. According to the news of the 9to5Google website, the company is testing a widgetized homepage model for its search engine.
The images posted show the cards listed at the bottom of google.com. In the lower right corner, there is a switch that allows to hide the content. In the lower left corner, there is a phrase stating that the location information and the information presented are based on your past activity.
There are six cards
Widgets when switching to full screen Weather, Trends, What to Watch, Stocks, Local Events and COVID News are displayed as six cards. When you hover over them with the mouse cursor, we see that each one expands.
Tried widgets for the Google search homepage are currently only available to a limited number of users. Presumably the company wants to gather feedback before making this design widely available. Time will tell if Google will roll out the new look to the general public.
