The Ford F Series has been the best-selling pick-up model in North America for many years. Wanting to continue this success in the changing world, Ford also launched the electric version of its successful pick-up model. F-150 Lightning, which has reached very successful numbers since its launch, is now competing with Tesla signed models.
Ford expands market share in electric vehicles
Ford F-150, which has not lost its throne to anyone for many years, reached successful sales figures in North America in a short time with its electric version. Ford’s August sales figures also prove the success of the electric vehicle.
According to the latest reports, Ford sold 2,373 F-150 Lightning models in August. The electric pick-up, which went on sale in May, has reached 6,842 sales since then. Ford also succeeded in selling 3,120 Mustang Mach-Es and 404 E-Transit units in this process.
According to the published report, Ford has quadrupled its electric vehicle sales compared to the previous year. The F-150 Lightning is currently the best-selling electric pick-up model in North America. In this sense, the only competitor of the electric model, the Rivian R1T, achieved a total sales figure of 700 in the second quarter of 2022.
Considering the Tesla Cybertruck and Chevrolet Silverado EV models are not yet on the market, the Ford F-150 seems unrivaled. The F-150 Lightning, which has a very strong hand in the pick-up market, is also ahead of vehicles from other segments.
According to reports, Tesla Model X reached 2,304 sales in the second quarter of 2022. The Model S, on the other hand, achieved sales of 2,896 units throughout the second quarter. All these figures reveal that the Ford F-150 Lightning is quite strong in the electric car market.
Although Ford has achieved successful sales figures with the F-150 Lightning, Mustang Mach-E and E-Transit, Tesla’s dominance in the US market continues. According to the latest figures, Tesla has a market share of 68 percent in the USA.
Ford continues to work to change this situation. The brand, which plans to sell 600 thousand electric vehicles in 2024, aims to increase this amount to 2 million by 2026. So what do you think about Ford’s electric vehicles? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
