The Tesla Semi is perhaps one of the most anticipated vehicles of recent years. After a long wait, the first Tesla trucks were delivered last December. However, things do not seem to have started as expected for the Tesla Semi, which has recently reached its first owners.
Tesla recalls 35 Semis
According to the information received, Tesla’s new electric vehicle was recalled due to faulty parking brakes. According to documents shared by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 35 Tesla Semis will be recalled. In the shared report, it is stated that the handbrake does not work as desired.
It is stated that the problem was first identified by the parts supplier Bendix. It was announced that the company warned Tesla of the problem detected in February 2023, and then Tesla began to investigate the cause of the problem. Later, it was determined which Tesla Semi trucks the defective part was attached to.
Tesla decided to voluntarily recall 35 trucks that it determined were equipped with a faulty parking brake valve module. It was stated that during this process, no complaints were received about the defective part and no “collision, injury or death” occurred due to the component.
To remedy the situation, Tesla will replace the handbrake valve module with a revised part. The new component is said to have improved internals that prevent air leakage and allow the driver to engage and disengage the parking brakes.
The electric car maker has so far confirmed that 36 Tesla Sems have been built in 2022 as part of its pilot program. The company has not yet announced production figures for the first quarter of 2023. Although 35 units may seem small, it can be considered a high rate for a model that has just started production.
Although the Tesla Semi has been expected for a long time, it seems that it has not left the desired effect. So what do you think about Tesla’s electric truck? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
