The best-selling electric car model in Europe has been announced. Tesla continued its leadership in Europe in the first half of 2023 with its two models. Reaching more than 130 thousand deliveries, Model Y took the first place by a wide margin.
Tesla Model Y is the leader in Europe with 140 thousand vehicles
Europe’s best-selling cars in the first half of 2023 have been announced. According to data from JATO Dynamics, Tesla delivered 138,000 Model Ys in Europe between January and June. This figure shows that sales have almost doubled compared to the same period of last year.
Model Y also outstripped cars with internal combustion engines. It broke new ground by surpassing the popularly preferred vehicles in Europe such as the Dacia Sandero and Volkswagen T-Roc. According to the data, the Tesla Model Y has been the best-selling vehicle ever.
Model 3 was the seat of Europe’s second best-selling electric car. Other electric vehicles Volvo XC40, VW ID.4 and VW ID.3 showed up in third, fourth and fifth places.
Tesla’s market share increased to 2.8 percent compared to the previous year and became the manufacturer that experienced the biggest increase among Europe’s 116 car brands. Analysts attribute Tesla’s growth to price cuts in Europe and Model Y production in Germany.

While Tesla maintains its leadership in electric vehicle sales, Volkswagen Group leads the automotive groups in Europe with a 19 percent market share. However, Tesla, with its accelerating growth, may surpass Stellantis by the end of the year to place in second place.
