Tesla begins recalling Model 3s in China
According to an email Tesla sent to customers in China on April 7, after regulators launched an investigation into the rear motor inverter fault has been discovered. This represents the recall of approximately 127,785 domestic and imported Tesla Model 3s in China.
China Market Regulatory Authority, on the other hand, warned in a statement on the subject, saying that Model 3 owners may face an error that increases the risk of collision.
“When this malfunction occurs while the Tesla Model 3 is in motion, it will cause the vehicle to lose driving motion. This error can increase the risk of collision in extreme cases.”
Tesla reached record sales figures in China. The US manufacturer, which managed to sell 70,847 models in the last December quarter; It has succeeded in surpassing domestic brands in the Chinese market such as Nio and XPeng. However, the automaker has been the target of numerous complaints from Chinese users regarding quality and service issues.
Giga Shanghai, which is also Tesla’s largest factory in China, had to close after hitting a new high in Covid-19 cases. The Chinese government has introduced a quarantine that announced it will keep 25 million citizens in the city at home indefinitely.
Before the motor-inverter failure, in December, Tesla identified a trunk malfunction that increased the risk of collision and recalled nearly 200,000 vehicles from China.
The country with the worst CO2 emission rating, China is promoting the sale of electric and hybrid vehicles through subsidies and aims to have more than half of the country’s cars powered by clean energy by 2035. According to Tesla CEO Elon Musk, China will be the firm’s largest market.
