Tesla had a successful process despite the chip crisis. In the last quarter of 2021, the company broke the all-time record by delivering 310,000 cars. The company, which continued this success in the first quarter of 2022, unfortunately had to close its factory in China due to COVID-19.
It was thought that this shutdown, which took place after the COVID-19 epidemic again spread in China, would not be long. However, it has been 12 days since the factory stopped production and there is no clear information about when the factory will open yet. Although this does not endanger current shipments, it will cause Tesla company some problems in the second quarter of 2022.
Currently, around 2,000 cars are produced per day in Giga Shanghai. Considering that it has been 12 days since the factory was closed, we can say that this closure cost the company 24,000 vehicles. Because of this, stretching may occur in many shipments.
According to the information published by Bloomberg, Tesla informed its suppliers in China that they will be closed until at least April 7 and asked them to prepare accordingly.
