Tesla very close to level 4 or 5 autonomous driving
Elon Musk said at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference held in Shanghai last month that Tesla is very close to achieving fully autonomous driving without human control, and that it will reach the level of 4 or 5 later in the year.
According to Musk’s recent tweet, the development of the full self-driving feature, in which artificial intelligence is integrated, has come to an end. The final stage will be vehicle control. Musk stated that with the addition of artificial intelligence to the electronic brain of the system, the number of lines of code will be significantly reduced.
As a reminder, Tesla’s driver assistance system is currently at Level 2 because the responsibility is always with the driver. The Level 5 system makes it possible to operate the vehicle in any area, in any condition, without the driver having to take over control at any point. Level 4 offers the option to manually override the electronics.
