According to the news served by CNBC, Tesla has decided to remove one of the two electronic control units in the steering systems of some Model 3 and Model Y cars produced in China in order to meet its fourth quarter sales targets and mitigate the negative effects of the semiconductor supply shortage.
In the published report, it was stated that Tesla did not inform customers about this change regarding tens of thousands of electric vehicles produced at the Shanghai factory and shipped to China, Australia, England, Germany and other countries. It is not yet clear whether the company will make similar changes in electric vehicles manufactured in the USA.
Ford also stopped production at 8 factories
It appears that Tesla has had to make changes beyond the measures announced to the public at the end of 2021 to maintain its vehicle delivery rate. Because the world is facing a chip shortage that affects everything from cars to laptops. Ford also recently decided to stop production at 8 factories due to semiconductor supply problems.
