Tesla, the US-based electric car manufacturer of Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, has been facing many security problems lately. The giant company announced last week that it had disabled the ‘Passenger Play’ feature, which allows drivers to play games while the vehicle is in motion.
This decision came soon after the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) launched an investigation into the company, citing the feature increases the ‘risk of accident’. Now NHTSA has warned the company due to different security issues. After that, Tesla decided to recall 475,000 vehicles.
475,000 Model 3 and Model S recalled
In the statements made by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration today, it was stated that the problems in the backup cameras, trunk and front hood of some models of Tesla vehicles “increase the risk of accident”. After that, Tesla announced that it had recalled 475,000 Model 3 and Model S vehicles. This number also drew attention as it was close to the number of vehicles the company delivered last year.
In the statements made by NHTSA, “Model 3 sedans; Opening and closing the tailgate may damage the reversing camera, damaging the images. In Model S vehicles, problems in the front hood latch may increase the risk of accident by causing the hood to open against the driver’s request. Tesla, on the other hand, did not comment on NHTSA’s statements or recall of vehicles.
