Tesla continues its pre-production studies at the Giga Berlin factory, where it aims to produce 500,000 cars per year. The company announced some new and exciting developments with the “Giga Fest” event held in Giga Berlin on October 9th.

Within the scope of the festival, many interesting developments were announced about the technical features and production performance of the Model Y, which is expected to be produced at the factory. According to a statement on a banner at the festival, Giga Berlin aims to produce much more than 500,000 vehicles.

“We produce 1 car body every 45 seconds”

A banner at Tesla Giga Fest at Gigafactory Belin reads, “Our team is supported by an army of robots that weld, riveted and glued together car parts. With extremely precise and fast movements, we produce a car body every 45 seconds.” According to this account, while rumors spread that Tesla can produce 700,000 vehicles per year, the company’s CEO Elon Musk announced the targeted production number with the expected production performance.

According to Musk’s statement, if the factory completes its 45-second production cycle, it will be able to produce 10,000 vehicles in an average week. According to this calculation, if Giga Berlin starts producing 10,000 vehicles per week, it will produce 520,000 vehicles per year. Elon Musk recently stated that it is not easy for a factory to go into high production, and explained that at least a year is needed for Giga Berlin to reach peak production.

Tesla Giga Berlin is not yet operational, as the State Environment Office has not yet approved Tesla’s official application. Tesla, which has recently been approved for the Giga Shanghai application, is hopeful that it will soon get approval for the Giga Berlin and start production.

Model Y’s new colors and battery pack introduced

Tesla has announced the colors that Model Y will produce at its German factory this year. Emphasizing that they have a first-class paint shop at every opportunity, the company announced that dark red and blue color options have been added for Model Y.

Until now, Tesla has been using 18650 and 2170 battery cells for Model X, Model S, Model 3 and Model Y. But he designed a new battery that lasted longer, was more affordable, and was more powerful. It first introduced its 4680-cell structural battery pack in September of 2020. The structural battery pack, Tesla’s highly successful new production, will be used when Tesla Giga Berlin becomes operational. The upcoming Model Y vehicles will likely be the first vehicles in the world to use Tesla’s new batteries and 4680 cells. Tesla is also expected to have its own battery factory in Giga Berlin.

First images released from test production of Model Y

Production of Model Y is currently underway at Gigafactory Texas. Recently, Elon Musk’s mother, Maye Musk, shared a video with images of Model Y at the Tesla production site. The video clip shared on Instagram consisted of a video of Elon Musk walking with his brother Kimbal Musk and several videos of Gigafactory Texas’ production areas. With this post, the facility, which is estimated to be the production area of Model Y in the vehicle production facility, attracted attention. As seen from the video, Model Y appeared to be complete.

In the video, there were black Model Ys that were very similar to the first example of Model Y shared in August. Considering that Tesla’s Model Y in Giga Texas is in the pre-production stage, it will not be surprising that the Model Y is on the market. It is thought that production and deliveries will be carried out in a short time after the completion of the quality control tests carried out during the production phase.
