Hidden posts discovered on Telegram in the past days were unlocked when you made a payment. According to some rumors about the app that requires you to pay a certain fee to view the message content, Apple has asked Telegram to remove this feature from its iOS app.

Telegram developers recently released a special bot called @donate that provides a new form of payment for exclusive content. With the help of the bot, users would be able to hide the content of their posts (photo or video) and charge users who wanted to see it. However, this feature has not been officially announced by the platform, which indicates that it is still being tested.

Telegram’s new feature paid posts bypasses App Store’s payment system

A Telegram spokesperson told 9to5Mac that the company has not tested the paid posting feature, but instead uses third-party pay-per-view bots from some creators. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov shared a message in which he said that the platform will never charge users for transactions made using these bots. However, as the news spread, Apple reportedly asked Telegram to remove this feature from its iOS app.

Selling in-app content using alternative payment systems is against App Store guidelines. And Telegram, which uses its own payment system instead of the App Store’s in-app purchase system, is trying not to use the App Store’s in-app purchase system, possibly to avoid paying a 30% commission on every sale made to Apple.
