The popular transmission practice Telegram was banned in Dagestan and Chechnya regions of Russia.
While the authorities show the rush of the application that the application is used in extremist activities, the decision taken has again fueled the ongoing debates on Telegram’s residual policies for a long time.
The reason for the ban is based on the past
Telegram, who had previously faced various pressures in Russia, was associated with an incident of 2023, when the authorities believed that they had increased security threats in the region. The platform, which is known for its defense of the privacy of users, has been on the agenda by different countries with its arguments on the name of Russia at the time.
Russian officials invited the people of the region to transfer alternative transmission practices, while the prestige of the moment Telegram’ın completely banned throughout the country is also discussed.
On the other hand, the arrest of Telegram’s founder Pavel Durov last year on charges of organized crime in France last year, an indication that the practice was seen as a global threat element.
