DUROV: “Apple is abusing its market dominance!”
According to DUROV, the taxation policy implemented by the App Store is actually the work of Apple, which abuses its market dominance. The 38-year-old entrepreneur is not the first to criticize Apple and Google, describing Apple as a “trillion-dollar monopoly with a rough business ethic.”
Founded on April 1, 1976, the American technology giant previously applied a 30 percent deduction to the income of everyone who used the App Store and met the relevant conditions, and got its own share from it.
This deduction was later changed to a 30 percent deduction from the revenue of developers who earned over $1 million a year alone. Less deductions are applied to developers who earn less than $1 million in revenue.
DUROV is strongly against it, saying that although the messaging software does not charge its users, Apple asks for money for paid posts. Here are his words about Apple’s policy:
“This app is another example of how a trillion-dollar monopoly is abusing its market dominance by living off millions of users trying to monetize their content.”
“I hope the European Union, India, and other places act before any government takes action before Apple, which makes money on a higher-than-value-added tax with deductions from people’s income, destroys more dreams and crushes more entrepreneurs.”
