US-based technology giant NVIDIA made many announcements yesterday before CES 2023, which will start on January 5th. While introducing the highly anticipated GeForce RTX 4070 Ti at the company’s presentation, other important developments were also included. One of them was an artificial intelligence-assisted technology.

The company introduced a new feature called super RTX Video Super Resolution during the CES 2023 presentation. Utilizing artificial intelligence, this technology is designed to improve the quality of videos watched via Chrome and Edge browsers on PC, to a 4K equivalent.

RTX 30 or 40 series will be needed to use the technology

NVIDIA says that modern GPUs are needed to use the technology that will make a big difference in videos. In the listing made by the company, it is seen that only the RTX 30 and 40 series graphics cards will support the feature that will be released next month.

The technology giant has also released a video for us to see how the feature works. In the video, which includes images from Apex Legends, it is seen that RTX Super Resolution has increased the quality significantly. Although the shared image is a YouTube video, NVIDIA states that the feature can be used in any video watched from the browser. It is also reported to include support for all videos between 360p and 1440p.

NVIDIA has previously brought this type of technology to devices such as the Shield TV and Shield TV Pro. However, the new move towards browsers showed that AI and optimization technologies could be used more broadly.

RTX Super Resolution will launch in February for RTX 30 and 40 series GPUs. There is no information yet on whether it will come to older graphics cards in the future.
