Thanks to the Great Offensive, which started on August 26, 1922 and ended on September 9, 1922, Izmir was saved from the Greek occupation. Last Friday was the 100th anniversary of this glorious victory. On this important day, megastar Tarkan gave a free concert in Izmir.
From the videos and photos shared from the moment the concert started, it could be seen that the concert venue was packed. It was so crowded that Wikipedia added the 9 September Tarkan concert to its list of ‘History’s Largest Concerts’.
2,000,000 people attended the Tarkan concert
Tarkan’s 9 September Izmir liberation concert succeeded to enter Wikipedia’s list of the most attended free concerts in history, with 2,000,000 million participants. Tarkan’s concert is in the 5th place on the list.
Considering that the latest of the 4 concerts that preceded Tarkan on the list was held in 1997, we can say that Tarkan broke another record by giving the largest free concert of the last 25 years.
In Wikipedia, the contributor data was originally 5,000,000, then this data was changed to 2,000,000. After that, Wikipedia deleted Tarkan from the list for about an hour, and added Tarkan back to the list with the number 2,500,000. Currently, the number of participants again appears to be 2,000,000. Such changes are understandable, as it is difficult to calculate the number of participants for such free events.
