Despite all the criticism that Samsung has received over its Exynos mobile chipsets lately, sales of Exynos chips are not slowing down. On the contrary, a new report revealed that Exynos’ market share grew in the second quarter of 2022 thanks to increased sales. Samsung’s biggest competitors recorded lower sales during the quarter ending in June.

Exynos shipments increased from 14.9 million to 22.8 million in Q2, according to a report by market research firm Omdia. This means an increase of 53%. Exynos 850 and Exynos 1080 emerge as the most popular chipset models in mid-low segment smartphones.

Galaxy A13, Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G use Exynos 850 and Exynos 1080 chipsets, respectively. Given the popularity of these devices, it makes sense for Exynos to see higher sales in Q2. The Exynos division did well, thanks to the Galaxy smartphone lineup and devices from other companies.

Even more surprising than Exynos saw more sales in the second quarter of 2022 was that other companies like MediaTek, Qualcomm, Apple and Unisoc were selling fewer chipsets by the quarter. MediaTek sales fell from 110.7 to 100.1 million in the second quarter. Similarly, Qualcomm fell from 66.7 million to 64 million, while Apple fell from 56.4 million to 48.9 million.

The Korean tech giant had some difficulties at the beginning of the year due to supply chain issues, but the company seems to have stabilized and Samsung is doing the opposite despite rumors that the Exynos project will be put on hold. It plans to expand Exynos to wearables, laptops, modems and Wi-Fi products.
