Microsoft Edge gets an interesting feature with the new update. The web browser will save the screenshots of the web pages visited in the history if the user turns on the relevant setting. The feature is available in Microsoft Edge version 117, which is currently available for testing on the Canary and Dev channels.

off by default

The feature in question is called “Save screenshots of the site for history” and the new feature to Microsoft is pretty handy. It allows the user to revisit any page in the browsing history without an internet connection. On the history page, the site can be previewed when the cursor is hovered over the page.

Microsoft describes this feature as “We will take and save screenshots of the sites you visit so that you can quickly revisit the site you have requested from the past.” defines as.

However, Microsoft has no explanation for how it ensures user privacy and security while taking screenshots of websites. On the other hand, the user is not given the option to save a screenshot of certain sites.

In testing phase

The feature is currently in testing and is turned off by default. If you are on Edge’s Canary or Dev channel, you can open it under Settings – Privacy – Services or you can access it directly by typing edge://settings/privacy in the address line.
