READING NOW Surprising fact: Google Pixel 8 lacks 11-year-old features!

Google introduced the Pixel 8 series smartphones last week. The series, which emerged with its interesting and striking features, made a great impact in the technology world with its 7-year update promise. So much so that the devices are expected to be upgraded to Android 21. While this is the case, the shortcomings of the phones have become a matter of curiosity. One of them has just emerged. Here’s the end of the 11-year feature.

Google Pixel 8 lacks Photo Sphere mode

Google Pixel phones have long included a mode called Photo Sphere Mode, which allows users to capture 360-degree images. However, unfortunately, this feature has been removed from the Google Pixel 8 series. Google has confirmed that Photo Sphere Mode has been removed from new Pixel phones. The company declined to provide detailed information about the reason for this decision.

Photo Sphere Mode allowed you to take panoramic 360-degree photos by combining multiple images. This feature was first introduced on the Nexus 4 in 2012, and models such as Pixel Fold and Pixel 7a also offered this feature. Until Google Pixel 8 that is. But although this feature had an intuitive user interface, it wasn’t exactly foolproof due to the large number of images required.

Significant processing issues and exposure/white balance differences were also very common. However, a recovery can be expected after this move by Google. If Google revives Photo Sphere Mode on the Pixel 8, it might also let you use the ultra-wide rear camera. This way you need to take fewer shots to complete the sphere.

It’s also intriguing to see Google, along with Samsung and Qualcomm, skipping this feature ahead of the launch of a VR headset. So Google Pixel 8 owners who want to take 360-degree photos to view in this future VR headset will need to use a third-party app. However, we can say that there is no major deficiency for Pixel 8.
