A game that didn’t attract much attention surprised everyone by making its way into Xbox Game Pass history. Microsoft reported that High On Life, the first-person shooter game developed by Squanch Games, offered on Game Pass since the first day of its release, achieved great popularity in its subscription service and broke several records.
High On Life took the titles on Xbox Game Pass for the biggest debut of 2022, the biggest third-party debut of all time, and the biggest single-player game performance on the service since its debut. All of this was determined by measuring how many hours players spent in-game in the first five days after release.
“This was the first time we were offering a game with Game Pass,” says Mike Fridley, studio director and COO of Squanch Games. “We were all stunned by the response from gamers making it the most popular game on Game Pass right now. When Squanch Games was first established, we aimed to produce the games we wanted to play, and Game Pass helps us reach players who want to play those games.”
