READING NOW Surprise from Microsoft: Outlook for Mac is free
Microsoft recently announced that the Outlook for Mac app is free and can be used without a Microsoft 365 subscription or license.

Optimized for Macs with Apple Silicon processors

Outlook for Mac is now fully available on Macs with Apple Silicon processors. Native support allows users to use features like Handoff. Among the features that can be used are the widget (widgets) for calendar entries, notification support, and a menu bar option for users to quickly view calendar entries from within the application.

Let’s talk about two prominent features of Outlook: Outlook Profiles and Focused Inbox. Outlook profiles prevent unwanted notifications at the wrong time so the user can focus on important emails. Focused inbox separates emails into important and unimportant and provides the user with options such as snoozing, categorizing, marking, adding to favorites.

New features will be added

Microsoft also plans to add Focus Mode with the next update.

macOS Big Sur and above

Apart from Outlook.com accounts, Outlook for Mac supports Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and other email providers that support IMAP. Outlook for Mac can be installed from the App Store and requires macOS 11 Big Sur and newer.
