Amid criticism and bans, artificial intelligence developer OpenAI found support from Japan.
The growing reputation and uses of artificial intelligence has led to a global controversy. ChatGPT, which was banned in many countries, was the artificial intelligence application most exposed to pressure.
In the midst of all these global pressures and bans, OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT, received strong support from Japan.
Artificial Intelligence Powered by Japan
Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Hirokazu Matsuno, stated that he plans to incorporate artificial intelligence technology such as the ChatGPT platform into government systems, provided that privacy and cybersecurity issues are addressed.
Recently, Italy’s data protection agency launched an investigation into OpenAI, citing ChatGPT’s problems. As this investigation continues, criticism of artificial intelligence is increasing. Famous names reveal their opposing or supporting attitudes towards artificial intelligence. In the midst of all this uncertainty, a step came from the Japanese government.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman received statements from senior government spokesman Matsuno before meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. Matsuno said OpenAI technology could be adopted by the Japanese government if concerns such as privacy and cyber-attack are addressed.
Meeting with Kishida, Altman stated that OpenAI will focus on opening offices in Japan and expanding its services in this country.
