The whole world has started the electricity transformation. Moreover, not only individuals, transportation companies and automotive manufacturers, but also almost all major brands are trying to be involved in this process in some way. IKEA, on the other hand, announced that it will install more than 220 fast charging stations with its new business partner.

IKEA is building a fast charging station for electric cars!

IKEA has announced that it will set up charging stations in more than 25 stores with the work to be started in 18 states in the USA. It was stated that an agreement was reached with Electrify America, a subsidiary of Volkswagen, for this.

In line with the initial plan, 225 fast charging stations will be installed in 25 stores, each of which can charge 2 cars at the same time. In other words, it will be able to charge 450 vehicles at the same time in total. Moreover, it won’t do like rival stores that put AC charging stations instead of DC to increase customer stay in store.

Instead, it will feature new super-fast charging stations developed by Electrify America that can reach up to 350 kW. In other words, it will be able to charge all electric cars on the market at the highest speed it supports. It also said it will switch its transport operations to fully electric by 2030.

In addition, the VW Group currently maintains individual operations in many regions of the USA. For example, there are more than 3,500 fast charging stations in more than 800 locations. It plans to increase this number to over 4,500 by 2026.

Of course, the collaboration between IKEA and VW is not the only one of its kind. Last March, Starbucks and Volvo took a similar step and announced that they would set up new charging stations at 60 different points in the first place. Therefore, installing charging stations in places where people frequently visit and where they already park their vehicles can lead consumers to their electric transformation.
