The transition to electricity, the energy source of the future, continues to grow exponentially. A new member is added to the team of electric powered vehicles, which has experienced great developments in the aviation industry as well as in the automobile industry. Subaru introduced Solterra, its first electric model, which will be put on sale in Europe, the USA and Canada in 2022. Dubbed the Subaru Solterra SUV, the model will be available in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive.
The 71.4kWh battery in the front-wheel drive cars of the model is at a level that can cover a distance of approximately 530 km. All-wheel drive models also have the same battery, but this distance is stated as 460 km. In cases where the battery is low, it can be charged up to 150kW with DC fast charging. Exactly how long the charging time will be has not been specified, but Toyota’s BZ4X model, made on the same EV platform, can be charged up to 80% capacity in half an hour.

Reminiscent of the exterior design of the Toyota BZ4X model introduced last month, Solterra’s interior design and steering wheel are simpler. According to Subaru’s statement, Solterra has the X-Mode AWD control system, which provides safer driving on rough roads, like other gasoline SUV series vehicles. In addition, the “Grip Control” feature added to the vehicle can stabilize the speed by providing grip even on difficult and uneven roads.
Entering the electric car market, Subaru has not yet made a statement about the starting price of the Solterra model. However, based on its opinion and features, it can be predicted that it will attract great interest from users if it is offered for sale at an affordable price.
