In these days when the effects of climate change are increasing rapidly, the automotive sector, which is one of the areas that cause the most greenhouse gas emissions, is trying to increase its investments in electric vehicles, which are seen as the ‘future’. The giants of the industry plan to sell completely environmentally friendly fully electric vehicles by giving up on internal combustion engine vehicles in the coming years.
Japan-based automaker Subaru is one of these brands. In a news we shared with you in the past months, we shared that the brand entered the electric vehicle market by introducing its first electric car, the Solterra SUV. Now, important statements have come from the company about the transition to WRX STI and electric vehicles, one of the popular vehicles of the brand.
Internal combustion WRX STI will no longer be produced
In press releases made by Subaru last Friday, the giant company no longer has plans to produce a gasoline WRX STI and the new generation is electric. “Subaru is exploring opportunities for the next generation WRX STI, including electrification. At the same time, the next-generation internal combustion WRX STI engine will no longer be produced.”
The company stated that the reason for this change was to reduce greenhouse gases and increase efforts to produce zero-emission vehicles. In addition, it was stated that keeping up with the Institutional Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) regulations was also effective in this decision.
