Living in the wild can be a wonderful thing, but sometimes conflicts between humans and animals can occur. While playing outside his home in India, a young boy recently encountered a cobra, one of the most venomous snakes in the World. But this time, the interesting thing was not that the snake bit the child, but the opposite.

A child named Deepak, who was suddenly frightened, bit the snake twice to save himself. The snake died due to the bite wounds he received, but the child survived because the snake venom did not enter his body, although he was bitten by the snake at that time.

The incident occurred in the village of Pandarpadh in the Jashpur district, northeast of Raipur, according to The New Indian Express. Deepak said, “The snake got around my hand and bit me. I was in so much pain. I tried to shake my hand to get rid of it, it didn’t work. “I bit him hard twice,” he said.

The exact species of snake is not known, but Raipur has a wide variety of snakes, including the spectacled cobra. The population density here makes it difficult for wildlife and its inhabitants to live at a comfortable distance.

The spectacled cobra (Naja naja) is so named for its spectacle when threatened. As a result of living in environments occupied by humans, it has the ability to emit a neurotoxic venom that has a relatively high frequency of human snakebites and can be deadly. Symptoms of poisoning include drowsiness, paralysis, convulsions, headache, nausea and vomiting and can be treated with an injection of the antidote.

Luckily for Deepak, the cobra didn’t release its venom in this case. This is more common in adult snakes trying to frighten their opponents and possibly escape. Unfortunately, although the cobra wrapped around Deepak’s arm did not poison the child, he did not survive the incident.
