Apple’s founder Steve Jobs has always been associated with Apple throughout his life. Jobs is one of the most important people in this sense, which enables many technologies to exist and become widespread today. So much so that he continues to be honored after his death.
Steve Jobs honored with the Medal of Freedom
Apple co-founder Steve Jobs was posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by US President Joe Biden. In its statement, the White House emphasized that the inventions made by Steve Jobs have changed the way the world communicates.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom is considered the highest award a civilian can receive in the United States. This medal is awarded to individuals who have made exemplary contributions to the welfare, values, or security of the United States, world peace, or other important societal, public, or private endeavors.
Apple CEO Tim Cook also congratulated Steve Jobs on this award on Twitter. Cook described Jobs as a “visionary” who predicted “what could happen”, and made the following statements:
Today, Steve was awarded America’s highest civilian honor, the Medal of Freedom. He was a visionary who challenged us to see the world not as it is, but as it could be. We value his memory and will continue to build on his legacy.
Jobs co-founded Apple with Steve Wozniak in 1976. Jobs, who left the company in 1985, returned to Apple in 1999, which was experiencing difficulties. With his return, Jobs reinvigorated the company with iPod, iPhone and Mac models. Successful businessman died of cancer in 2011 at the age of 56.
The Presidential Medal of Freedom has only been awarded to 647 people since its inception in 1963. Apart from Steve Jobs, 15 more people were deemed worthy of this award this year. The winners of the award are as follows:
