A Macintosh SE computer used by tech legend Steve Jobs is up for auction in New York on October 25 as part of Bonham’s History of Science and Technology auction. The computer is expected to sell for $200,000 to $300,000.

With its then-new all-in-one design, graphical user interface, and mouse, the Macintosh was a major turning point in computer history. The Macintosh to be auctioned was used by Jobs after he was forced to leave Apple. The Mac was in office in 1988 at NeXT, the company Jobs founded after leaving Apple in 1985, and was given to its current owner in 1994.

Jobs’ travel and meeting records are on file

Even though confidential and other data has been deleted, the computer is still operational. It still shows records of Jobs’ weekly missions and itineraries, including a missed meeting with the then-Prince of Wales. The machine may also have been used by Jobs’ daughter, Lisa Brennan-Jobs, because email and Microsoft Word are registered in her name.

The machine was last used for a marketing project overseen by Jobs. Jobs’ Macintosh will be available at a live auction on October 22 in New York.
