King’s novel The Long Walk, published under the pen name Richard Bachman, revolves around a brutal competition. Set in a dystopian America, the novel is about an excruciating walking contest that is traditionally held every year.
The Running Man, on the other hand, focuses on a competition about prisoners trying to escape a brutal death and reach freedom, and the “Hunters” tasked with killing them.
