Steam, the popular game distribution platform signed by Valve, is working on a brand new feature that will improve the platform’s controller experience. Users will now be able to easily see whether the games on Steam support Playstation controllers. Here are the details..

Steam’s controller support is expanding

According to an update released this week, developers will now be able to choose whether games on Steam offer full or partial support for Xbox, DualShock and DualSense controllers via Steamworks. In addition, different filters will be offered for each controller, and the most preferred controller according to the games will be seen.

Valve attributed this new feature, which will be available from October, to the increasing use of Playstation controllers. At this point, the gaming giant reported that Sony controllers accounted for only 11 percent of sessions in 2018, but today this number has reached 27 percent. Therefore, it should be noted that the decision taken is not surprising.

In addition, Valve says that since 2017, more than 87 million Steam users have used a controller at least once. While 69 percent of this group was allocated to Xbox, the remaining 31 percent was shared between Playstation, Switch Pro and other devices.
