Steam, one of the largest game stores in the world, began to change its update/support policy with the growth and development of desktop operating systems. Valve, which stated in the past months that Windows 7 and Windows 8 will no longer be supported, added a new operating system to this list.

32-bit games on the Steam platform will no longer run on macOS

Valve, the developer of Steam, made an important statement on the platform. According to this statement, as of February 15, 2024, devices using macOS 10.13 (High Sierra) and macOS 10.14 (Mojave) will not receive any updates, security patches and technical support for Steam. Thus, the 32-bit gaming era for macOS will be completely closed.

If you remember, Apple blocked 32-bit applications from running on the platform with macOS 10.15 in 2019. However, Intel-based mac devices could continue to play 32-bit games with older macOS versions. As of February 15, 2024, this will no longer be possible. In addition to all this, Valve said that the Steam store may stop considering games that offer 32-bit macOS options as Mac compatible by the end of 2023.
