German automotive giant Volkswagen has not touched its iconic model Golf for a long time. The 8th generation Golf, which has been on the market since late 2019, is considered to be in the middle of its life cycle. That being the case, Volkswagen started working again for Golf. Most likely, this time next year, we will encounter the facelifted version of the 8th generation Golf.

However, the latest news reveals that Volkswagen is working on a new and special project for Golf. If the company doesn’t do anything wrong, we may meet the Volkswagen Golf Variant next year. Yes, you heard right. The phrase “Variant”, which Volkswagen uses on its station wagon vehicles, will now also be valid for Golf. So the station wagon version of Volkswagen Golf is coming.

This is what the Volkswagen Golf Variant might look like:

The Volkswagen Golf Variant caught on spy cameras looks the same as the Passat Variant at first glance. Some of our readers may even insist that this car is a Passat, not a Golf. Actually, they are right. However, Volkswagen has pasted the word Golf on the trunk lid of its car, which is still in the testing phase. If this isn’t just something to confuse, which we haven’t seen in the past, we can conclude that the station wagon Golf is on the way.

The trunk lid of the Volkswagen Golf Variant also provides us with information about the vehicle’s engine. Because in the lower right part, we see the phrase “eTSI”. This phrase is a clear indication that the upcoming car will have 1.0 and 1.5 liter engines. A 2.0-liter diesel option may also be offered.

That’s all we can say about the station wagon version of Volkswagen Golf for now. Volkswagen has made no statement about this car and we do not expect this to change in the short term.
