We are tired of making news about Starfield, but the game is not tired of arranging successes one after the other. The game, which reached 1 million simultaneous players on all platforms the other day, sold millions of copies on its second day.
Starfield reached 6 million sales on its second day of release
The game released its standard edition yesterday, September 6th, and came out for early access users on September 1st. With so many users, it’s clearly already a hit for Bethesda, which is a big deal since it’s Bethesda’s first brand new franchise in 25 years.
“As of this morning, Starfield has reached 6 million sales. “This makes it the biggest Bethesda-made game launch ever.”
This is also good news for Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass, as Starfield could lead to new subscriptions for that service. Now the real question is how long this will continue, as good reviews from early players will encourage late adopters to try the game as well.
Does this mean that Microsoft generated six million times $70 = $420 million in revenue, not counting funds from premium sales? No, because many players (we don’t know how many) access the game through Xbox Game Pass subscriptions they’ve already paid for. This is an achievement, but it is difficult to calculate it exactly in monetary terms.
We should note that the game’s development and advertising budget is around 400 million dollars. Therefore, even if it has not exceeded this figure yet, considering the course of events, it would not be crazy to think that it will exceed this number and turn a profit.
