While giant companies all over the world continue to prepare their plans for blockchain technologies, important news came from Starbucks today. Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and Vice President Brady Brewer signaled to the NFTs at their last meeting with investors that the company would add “new concepts such as ownership and community-based membership models that they saw evolving in the Web3 space.”
Brewer clarified exactly what they meant after this statement at the meeting. “Imagine purchasing a new digital collection from Starbucks; this product will also serve as your access gateway to a global Starbucks community.” made the statement. After that, the company shared a statement directly related to NFTs:
“We are planning to create an NFT collection”
We plan to create a series of branded NFT collections that allow access. These collection themes will emerge from Starbucks’ artistic expressions, both old and new, and world-class collaborations with other innovative and like-minded brands.”
Starbucks’ NFT statement had actually been on the agenda before that. The first statement about NFTs was in the statement shared by CEO Schultz at the beginning of April. Schultz shared here that they are making plans on NFTs without giving any details. At the moment, the company did not answer questions such as which blockchain will NFTs use and how benefits will be provided to NFTs and their holders.
