Stanley Kubrick rolled up his sleeves for the movie of Napoleon Bonaparte, the epic hero of the Battle of Waterloo, in 1969, but the movie was canceled by the production company MGM before the lead roles were even announced. This movie, which was expected to make a big impact, tried to be revived with artificial intelligence technology after Kubrick’s death in 1999, but failed.
In 2016, Steven Spielberg, the director of successful productions such as Jurassic Park, announced that they started working on the series in partnership with HBO and Cary Joji Fukunaga. With a new news, Cary Joji Fukunaga, the director of True Detective, Maniac and James Bond: No Time to Die, announced that the script for the “Napoleon” series has been completed.
“Napoleon” comes to life after nearly 50 years
Accomplished director Cary Joji Fukunaga, who accessed special notes, archives and posters about Napoleon for the series, said that he had access to the library to understand Stanley Kubrick’s vision and that he spent a lot of time with his family.
It is not yet clear how many seasons the series, which has been in the preparation process for about 6 years, will last and who will be in the cast. According to Fukunaga’s statement, the only thing that completes the current drama is the script.
