Embracer acquires Square Enix games for $300 million
Embracer Group has announced that it will acquire most of Square Enix’s development teams in the West for $300 million. The agreement, which is expected to be completed in the July-September quarter; It will lead to the change of hands of famous game series such as “Tomb Raider”, “Deux Ex” and “Thief”.
This recently confirmed sale is the latest in a huge deal rush in the gaming industry. . The agreement, which is thought to affect 1,100 employees in total; Crystal Dynamics includes studios Eidos-Montreal and Square Enix Montreal.
Embracer Group, which has increased its reputation in the European and US game world with acquisitions, will have captured more than 230 productions, including 30 AAA games with big budgets, after the agreement.
Square Enix said that it still owns the production rights to “Just Cause”, “Outriders” and “Life is Strange” and made the following statements regarding the deal:
“The company’s development team has released their studios in Japan. -Square Enix External Studios and Square Enix Collective-. The company’s overseas studios will continue to release series such as Just Cause, Outriders and Life is Strange.”

Embracer upon completion of the agreement; THQ Nordic will own 124 game development firms, including studios like Deep Silver, Saber Interactive, and Gearbox Software.
