The significant advancement of technology in recent years has led to the emergence of new cyber attack methods. Cyber attack groups using these methods target large companies. Insomniac Games was hacked! What was seized?

For those who don’t know, Insomniac Games is a US-based game developer known for Marvel’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales games. The studio, owned by Sony Interactive Entertainment, recently came to the fore after being the victim of a cyber attack.

The group called “Rhysida”, which has previously made a name for itself by hacking large companies such as China Energy, announced that they carried out a cyber attack on Insomniac Games. To prove this, the team published some data about the company.

This data included important e-mail correspondence, signed documents and passport printouts of former Insomniac Games employees. In addition, a document regarding Yuri Lowenthal, who voiced the Spider-Man character in the Spider-Man game, was also leaked. But the most striking among this shared information was an image from the company’s new game.

The hacking group also leaked a screenshot from the Marvel’s Wolverine game, which Insomniac Games first announced in 2021. This game is expected to be released by the end of 2024.

The Rhysida group gave the company 7 days before publishing all the data they seized. The cyber attackers are demanding a ransom of 50 Bitcoins, or just over $2 million.
