United Launch Alliance (ULA) is an aerospace company established through the partnership of Locheed Martin and Boeing. The fledgling company was founded on December 1, 2006. Its biggest customers include NASA and the US Department of Defense. ULA had 3 rockets: Atlas V, Delta II and Delta IV. Then he started preparations for the Vulcan Rocket. The Colorado-based launch company will end 2023 with just three launches. However, it postponed the launch date of the long-awaited Vulcan Rocket. Here are the details…
Aviation and Space Company ULA has set a date for the Vulcan Rocket to 2024!
United Launch Alliance ULA was planning the debut of the next-generation Vulcan Rocket to be in 2023. But things didn’t go as expected. Unfortunately, the ULA chief said the Vulcan rocket will be pushed to 2024 following ground system issues.
Tory Bruno, the launch company’s chief executive, announced the delay on Sunday on his Twitter account, formerly known as X. United Launch Alliance, ULA, had scheduled this important flight for December. He was working to achieve the first flight of the lift booster from the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
Bruno said: “The car performed well. There were a few (routine) problems with the ground system. Now it is being fixed. We kept the timeline long. That’s why we couldn’t quite finish it. I want a FULL WDR before our first flight. So it will probably be out on Christmas Eve.” said. Then he pointed to January 8, 2024.
Peregrine is the rocket’s primary payload. Astrobotic built this primary payload. Additionally, Peregrine is a lunar lander intended to deliver scientific experiments for NASA and other payloads on the Moon. There are special launch windows to reach the Moon and attempt to land in ideal lighting conditions.
According to the information in Bruno’s comment, ULA’s technical team will work to fix the ground systems to provide fuel to Vulcan. The first stage engineers need to solve is the first stage propellant problem. It is methane that the United Launch Alliance has not worked on before. It looks like it will last long enough to preclude another refueling. Therefore, the next launch attempt probably won’t happen until January 8.
Bruno’s company has only launched three rockets in 2023, while SpaceX has launched three rockets in three days several times this calendar year. SpaceX is expected to finish the year with a total of 95 to 100 launches. With its lower-cost and equally reliable Falcon rockets, SpaceX has shifted commercial and government launch business away from United Launch Alliance.
United Launch Alliance is having a hard time competing with SpaceX. Despite this, SpaceX has risen steadily over the past decade. However, the Vulcan Rocket will be a milestone for ULA. There will be a lot of demand for the Vulcan once it starts flying regularly.
