Global warming, which is one of the biggest problems of our age, continues to endanger our future day by day. Although governments have begun to make new sacrifices, albeit late, to save the future of the Earth, according to many scientists, it was too late for these decisions and now they are literally on the brink of an abyss.

While it is said that we will feel the severity of global warming more and more unless there is a sudden change in the world, various initiatives and companies have also taken action to combat global warming. So far, we have seen creative and effective projects on this subject. A new project that joined these projects was shared by SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk.

SpaceX will make carbon dioxide rocket fuel

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that they have started a program in which they will use carbon dioxide in the Earth’s atmosphere as rocket fuel in his post at night. While Musk did not share any details about the program, he stated that this program “will also be important for Mars.” “If you are interested, please join the program,” Musk said. ” he concluded.

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and most rockets used in space missions use a petroleum derivative called kerosene as fuel. According to the news of The Guardian, each rocket that goes into space takes 300 tons of carbon dioxide into the upper atmosphere, and this carbon dioxide stays in the atmosphere for years. As we understand from Musk’s sharing, SpaceX wants to reverse this situation.

Musk previously launched a technology competition with a prize of $ 100 million called XPrize Carbon Removal. The aim of the competition was the development of a technology that could destroy carbon dioxide. The competition still continues. In the technology developed to determine a winner, the criteria for eliminating 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide every year are sought. The winner of the competition will be determined after 4 years.
