Starlink, the affordable satellite internet project of Elon Musk’s aerospace company SpaceX, has been meeting the internet needs of many users since its first launch in 2019. SpaceX is constantly updating its Starlink satellites, while also introducing new technologies such as special Starlink antennas that can be used on vehicles in motion.

The company, which has launched nearly 3500 satellites in the past 3 years, is constantly applying to equip the sky with more satellites and thus to serve more users.

Of the 30,000 satellite applications, only 7,500 were accepted.

SpaceX has applied to send 50,000 second-generation Starlink satellites into space in its application to the Federal Communications Agency (FIC) in the USA. This application made in 2020 has finally been finalized. The FİK announced that it partially accepted the company’s application. The institution, which accepts only 7,500 out of 50,000 satellites, announced that the satellites can be launched from today.

Since the first generation Starlink satellites were in orbit 340 kilometers above sea level, the satellites could easily be seen from the earth, especially at night. With the second generation satellites, it can be placed at an altitude of 540 kilometers, so the satellites are not easily visible. This paves the way for the Starlink service to be used in city centers and crowded metropolises, apart from rural areas.

SpaceX already has permission to launch more than 10,000 first-generation Starlink satellites, but the company announced last year that they would not use these rights and would send the second-generation satellites into space. The company has not yet made a statement about when the satellites will begin to be placed in orbit.
