Our research into the mysteries of our solar system and the universe continues unabated. Within the scope of these studies, it is estimated that human beings will soon set foot on the neighboring planet Mars, where many spacecraft are already located. It is stated that SpaceX, one of the world’s leading space companies, will also play a major role in this regard.
In the past months, we have conveyed to you that SpaceX CEO Elon Musk shared on Twitter about going to Mars and said that people will set foot on the Red Planet in 2029. Now, an explanation about when this mission, which will allow us to set foot on a different planet for the first time, can be done, came from another SpaceX official.
President of SpaceX: “Astronauts will set foot on Mars in the late 2020s”
SpaceX President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) Gwyenne Shotwell, to CNBC In a statement he gave, he spoke about the subject of going to Mars, which is curious about all humanity. The famous businessman stated in his statements that astronauts will probably set foot on the Red Planet at the end of the 2020s and said: “I believe that this will happen in the next 8 years, that is, before 2030. Before that, humans will reach the Moon again.”
Shotwell also stated in his statements that they need to perform a large delivery mission to the surface of Mars, so that people will think more about going to the planet. The 58-year-old businessman stated that after that, people will see Mars as a place to go within five or six years.
NASA targets 2040s for going to Mars
US-based SpaceX aims to be the company that makes these predictions. The giant company is developing both Artemis, NASA’s mission to send humans back to the Moon in the coming years, and Starship, a massive reusable spacecraft for a possible Mars mission. Elon Musk’s company plans to conduct the first orbital test of this vehicle, which has the potential to be a turning point in space exploration, in the near future.
NASA, which plans to send humans to the Moon around 2025, sees the Artemis mission as a mission from the Moon to Mars. Experts here think that a crewed mission to the Red Planet will take place sometime in the 2040s. It is noteworthy that this is ten years after Shotwell’s prediction. In short, there are uncertainties about when the Mars mission, which will be a groundbreaking development for the human race, will take place; but we can say that the possibility of it happening soon is also quite exciting.
