SpaceX has officially announced that the giant Starship rocket did not explode on its own, and that the mission was terminated with a controlled explosion upon command from the control center.

After the rocket left its course, it started to spiral and it was stated in the official statement that this situation was caused by the failure in the engines. The company’s statement on the subject is as follows: “During the test flight, several engines failed, lost altitude, and the rocket began somersaulting. Then the command was given to complete the test.”

It will be launched again in a few months

No one was hurt by the falling parts of the rocket. According to standard procedure, the launch site and surrounding areas in Boca Chica, Texas had been cleared long before testing. The Starship rocket reached an altitude of 38 km in its first test flight and began to spin uncontrollably about two and a half minutes after launch.

Then, a minute and a half later, an explosion occurred. SpaceX stated that the test launch would be considered successful if the rocket could take off from the launch pad. The next launch will take place in a few months.
