SpaceX lays off employees who targeted Elon Musk
SpaceX employees linked to the letter critical of Elon Musk have been laid off, according to a report by the New York Times. The report revealed that SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell sent out an email stating that she had fired “a large number of personnel associated with the letter.” The exact number of employees who were laid off was not disclosed.
In the internal letter that appeared the other day, employees said that they were disturbed by Elon Musk’s behavior and statements in the public sphere. In the letter, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk used the phrase “ distracting and embarrassing ”.
The wishes of the employees who rebelled against Elon Musk seem to have not been met. In fact, recent reports indicated that an unspecified number of employees were laid off. Regarding the letter sent to the executives, SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell made a statement.
In an internal statement leaked by New York Times sources, Shotwell said he believes employees “forced” to sign this letter. The executive described the letter circulating in the company as “unacceptable”:
Letter; caused employees to feel uncomfortable and bullied and/or angry. Because the letter forced him to sign something that did not reflect his views. We have a lot of work to do and we don’t need this kind of sweeping activism.
It should be noted that SpaceX has not commented on the letter circulating within the company and the dismissal of employees so far.
