In the first civilian spaceflight Inspiration4 mission with SpaceX’s Crew Dragon spacecraft last month, a four-person crew of astronauts remained in orbit for 3 days.
As part of the first civilian spaceflight mission in history, geoscientist Dr. Sian Proctor stated that 3 days is not enough for this journey.
Dr. Sian Proctor got sick for the first two days
Astronauts may experience a discomfort similar to motion sickness in space due to the effect of the gravitational environment. Dr. Sian Proctor did not feel well in the first two days of the trip for a similar reason. “Space sickness is one of the things that many people suffer from,” Proctor told National Geograph.
Dr. Proctor said that when he woke up on the third day after the health problem he had for the first two days, everything was perfect and he was able to adapt. He had a hard time accepting the end of the mission when he was just fine because everything was just beginning for him. Explaining that “I would have gone longer, three days was not enough”, the astronaut stated that he thought a 5-day journey in the Crew Dragon capsule would be ideal.
During the interview, Dr. Sian Proctor was also asked about the toilet disruption during space travel. Dr. Proctor explained that the glitch was a waste fan issue that was easily resolved by crew members, but was made into a bigger issue than it actually was.
