Auction house Sotheby’s announced today that it plans to hold an auction for NFT projects.
Sotheby’s “generative” NFT art auction will be an auction covering the history of “genarative” art from the 1960s to the present.
The works of Vera Molnár, Chuck Csuri and Roman Verostko, three genarative avant-garde artists whose work emerged in the 1960s, will be presented as NFT for the first time. Contemporary artists presenting a combination of NFT and physical works will also be featured at the auction.
Sotheby’s vice president and co-head of digital arts Michael Bouhanna said in a statement:
Generative art involves a computer-driven “autonomous system” that plays a role in the entire finished artwork, through a program that randomizes certain elements . Bored Ape Yacht Club is also a generative NFT project.
