Sony is considering a competitor for Game Pass
The subscription system, which Microsoft offered to players for the first time on June 1, 2017 and which provides services for both consoles and Windows users, was also offered to Android and iOS users with Xbox Cloud Gaming in the past. Currently serving in 41 different countries, including our country, Game Pass is increasing the number of its subscribers day by day.
The Japanese company, which stated that they never thought of switching to a monthly subscription system similar to that of Microsoft Xbox, and that Sony’s own brand games will not be offered for free, seems to have changed its mind for a while. The company, which previously offered a library of about 30 games for PS5 owners in exchange for a PSN Plus subscription, may rival Game Pass in the coming period.
According to a new news from Bloomberg, Sony has been working on a monthly subscription service for a while and plans to combine PlayStation Plus and PlayStation NOW services in a single pot in the summer of 2022. In this sense, these two services will combine under one roof for both online gaming experience, cloud gaming and a significant game library.
According to the rumors, the code name of the project will be ‘Spartacus’. It is a different theory that PlayStation Plus will stay as it is and move to a higher category subscription system just like Xbox Game Pass Ultimate… In this sense, Sony is expected to offer a wide-scale library of PS1, PS2, PS3 and even PSP games to the players.
