Sony has announced that it has acquired mobile game developer Savage Game Studios. In the agreement, it was pointed out that the aim was to bring PlayStation to more users than ever before. Could the Japanese company be looking to bring PlayStation games to Android and iOS?
PlayStation acquires mobile game developer Savage Game Studios
Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), which previously bought studios such as Guerrilla Games, Insomniac Games and Bungie, has now entered the mobile game world with Savage Game Studios. Sony did not share details of the deal, but this may indicate that it will bring PlayStation games to mobile.
Michail Katkoff, co-founder and CEO of Savage Game Studios, said they are pleased to be partners in PlayStation’s future goals. Expressing that they do not hesitate to take risks, CEO Katkoff also touched upon possible collaborations for PlayStation.
The access of the mobile game studio Savage Game Studios to the catalog of PlayStation will offer a huge advantage to the developer. Although no official announcement has been made yet, PlayStation games are expected to come to mobile devices.
However, Sony said that PlayStation Studios and Savage Game Studios will operate completely independently. So Savage Game Studios will continue to develop games for mobile devices. However, we should point out that there is a possibility of a joint production.
Sony has been trying to go beyond consoles in recent years. For example, it brought its biggest titles like God of War and Spider-Man to Windows and even ported it to esports. It also bought Evo, the world’s largest fighting game tournament. Additionally, it works on the PlayStation launcher for Windows.
