Sony says it is testing cloud streaming for PS5 games and plans to add it as a feature to the PlayStation Plus Premium subscription.

This cloud feature means you no longer need to download games to your console to stream them to other devices. Sony currently supports streaming PS5 games to PCs, Macs, and iOS and Android devices, but you need to use your PS5 as the main device to download games and stream them to your other devices.

It was clear months ago that Sony was working on cloud streaming for PS5 games. Because their job postings showed that. Sony announced the PlayStation handheld, codenamed Project Q, by confirming that only PS5 games will be streamed directly from a console over Wi-Fi.

While Sony has yet to reveal whether the PlayStation handset will support PS5 cloud game streaming, this cloud move is clearly a move towards that. Sony’s CEO, Kenichiro Yoshida, said earlier this month that the company’s cloud gaming is still in its early stages, so Project Q may launch without this feature.
