Apple released the macOS Monterey 12.3 update for its computers alongside iOS / iPadOS 15.4 versions on March 14. This is one of the most exciting updates that Mac users have been waiting for recently, as many new features have been introduced, especially Universal Control.

Thanks to the Universal Control feature, you can directly control your iPad via Mac, you don’t need an external keyboard and mouse for iPad. Moreover, using this feature, it is also possible to quickly transfer files between two devices. That’s why Mac owners, especially those with iPads, quickly installed the update.

Macbooks with changed motherboards crash when installing macOS 12.3!

Some users who installed the update started to open threads on various forums and Reddit about their Macbook Pro becoming unusable. There was no explanation from Apple on the subject, but it turned out that the affected devices were Macbooks, especially the motherboards of which parts were replaced.

The first problem appeared about two weeks ago, a user who installed macOS 12.3 Beta stated that his device would not turn on again, and confirmed that parts were replaced on his device before.

According to the thread on the Apple Developer Forums, when users try to install the update on a Macbook Pro with a modified motherboard, two results occur: The upgrade fails or the computer enters recovery mode.

But if you try to upgrade again, the iBoot FW driver is corrupted. When faced with this scenario, you need a second Mac computer with Apple Configurator 2 to install the previous version, macOS 12.2.1.

Similar issues arose when macOS Monterey was first introduced. While only a few computers are affected by this issue, Apple is expected to release a fix.
