Apple, one of the largest technology companies in the world, announced the first iMac model with the M1 processor with a launch in the past weeks. Although the new iMac manages to receive mostly positive comments, especially with its thin and colorful design, a problem brought up by Turkish YouTuber iPhonedo and voiced on Apple Support Community and Reddit may overshadow the positive comments about the design of the device.
According to the error that iPhonedo made in its video published yesterday, the iMac with the M1 processor is crooked. As a matter of fact, this skew is not caused by the iMac itself, but by the stand on which it is fixed, and if you are not careful, you may not even notice the skew. So exactly how crooked is the iMac with the M1 processor?
iPhonedo measures the distance from both the right and left sides of the iMac to the table to show its trapezoid. Accordingly, one end of the iMac is 8 centimeters away from the table, while the other is 7.6 centimeters away. This 4 millimeter difference means that the iMac with the M1 processor is not mounted flat as it should.
So far, Apple has not officially acknowledged complaints about iMacs’ ‘skewness’ and has thus not provided a statement as to the cause of the problem. Since the issue has only recently been brought up, it is not known whether it is a common problem or a manufacturing defect found in a few products. However, Apple customers have the opportunity to request a replacement via AppleCare if they realize that their iMac is ‘skewed’.
