Samsung recently started to release the Android 12-based One UI 4.0 update for the Galaxy S21 series. Although users are excited to install the update on their devices, a problem on the screen seems to be annoying. Galaxy S21 owners, especially in the US, are reporting that they are experiencing screen lag issues.
The screen lag seems to be caused by a bug with the high refresh rate of the screen. Because even when it shouldn’t be, the screen can rotate from 120Hz to 60Hz.
The Galaxy S21’s screen can switch between different refresh rates based on screen content and user input. However, after Android 12, the screen immediately returns to a 60Hz refresh rate when it stops detecting touch inputs. This undesirable situation can have negative effects on the user interface and almost every application.
The good news, at least for people outside the US, is that the lag issue has not been reported for other Galaxy S21 models other than those sold in the US. We expect Samsung to prepare an update to fix this bug in the near future. . .
